Foundational concept 9 is designed to help medical students learn how social factors and demographics impact health care and health outcomes. This knowledge will help future doctors understand how a patient’s background and previous experience will influence their expectations of care and responses to treatment.

There isn’t a set time allotted to finish foundational concept 9, but you will be given 95 minutes to complete the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section of the MCAT exam. Foundational concept 9 makes up 15% of the questions you will be asked in this section.
