Foundational Concept 8: Content Category 8C

Content category 8C within foundational concept 8 inside the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section of the new MCAT exam primarily focuses on the processes and actions that underlie social interactions. It also looks at expressing and detecting emotion, impression management, communication, discrimination, and the biological underpinning of social behavior. Content category 8C is the third and final content category within foundational concept 8.

As you can see in the illustration, your knowledge of coursework studied in one semester of introductory psychology, one semester of introductory sociology, as well as the two-semester sequence of introductory biology will be tested in content category 8C. Questions within foundational concept 8 account for 20% of the overall questions found in the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section of the new MCAT exam.
