WVSOM provides a system tract or problem based
learning tract for students. Extensive clinical contact is available
throughout the program. Objective Structured Clinical Evaluations
and extensive use of robotics are components of both tracts. The
clinical years are identical for both tracts and utilize clinician
preceptors throughout the state as well as clinical settings outside
of WV. |

Competency-based preparation. Basic science
courses blocked & integrated. Summer clinical & research
externships. Required laptop program. 3rd year requirements in
medicine, surgery, family medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN,
psychiatry/neurology. Required selective/elective 4th-year.
Requirements: Passage of USMLE Steps 1&2, WVU SOM CPX, 100-hours
community service, 3-months rural primary care.
